Processes and techniques

The Biosynth GmbH established many processes and techniques to manufacture bioconjugates as well as small-molecules and artificial polymers. A selection of available techniques is listed here.

Bioconjugates manufacturing:

  • Activation of capped thiol-groups
  • Reduction and re-folding (oxidation) of disulfide-bridged proteins and peptides
  • Conjugation chemistries (selection)
    • Reductive amination (including detector and scrubber for HCN)
    • Activated esters or carbonates
    • Thiol reactive groups
    • Click chemistry
    • Enzymatic conjugation
  • Chromatography
  • Tangential-flow filtration / ultrafiltration
  • Batch size may range from 100 mg to 100 g
  • Sterile filtration of drug substance in UDAF

Chemical compound manufacturing:

  • Anionic polymerization of single or multiple, non-gaseous monomers
  • Activation of polymers
  • Handling and characterization of sensitive polymers and copolymers
  • Temperature controlled reactions down to –15 °C
  • Reactions in inert atmosphere
  • Batch size may range from 100 g to 5 kg
  • Safety relevant reactions (e.g., handling of toxic or flammable gases or products)

Small-volume liquid handling

High throughput production of components for diagnostics or lab-on-a-chip applications:

  • Automated liquid handling of small volumes
  • Drying or freeze-drying of small reagent solutions
  • Functional quality control
